I've found that the best way to get your ideas flowing, is to talk a problem over with your parents, siblings, or friends. 8 times out of 10, your problems will get worked out by simply going over the options with someone else. While this person may not produce a solution, your brain will start working and you will come up with new ideas as you talk.
If no one else is around for you to bounce ideas off of or if you have a short car ride, start a Voice Memo on your iPhone and just talk. Talk about the story. Talk about what will happen next in the book. Or talk about your characters. Whatever you want. Lay out all of your thoughts and ideas and see where they lead. Just keep talking. It is much more productive to voice your ideas out loud. This way, if you have a very intriguing thought that you don't want to forget, it's save in your voice memos.
